Since 1934 we have made history in private education in the city of Porto. We have innovated and created strategies to enhance our educational community. Today we have a transversal teaching model, from nursery school to secondary school, in both the national and international wings of the school.
Our history
Colégio Júlio Dinis (CJD) is a private school located in the city of Porto, Portugal.
Founded in 1934, it is one of the oldest private schools in the country, with Licence No. 146. It has grown with the aim of establishing itself as a commitment to quality and innovation in the education offered in the city of Porto.
The school’s name honours one of the most important 19th century Portuguese writers, who was born in and studied in Porto.
CJD is a project that was born from a dream and the passion for Education of a group of teachers and educators. Over the years, the dream has grown, and today, Colégio Júlio Dinis is one of the most important and recognised educational institutions in the northern region of Portugal, with 145 teaching staff.
We believe that education is a dynamic and holistic process whose goal is much more than learning content from different areas and disciplines. From our perspective, educating means making a significant contribution to the overall growth of our students, it means participating in a process that contributes to the formation of individuals who are aware of their social role and their place in an increasingly demanding and challenging world. In short, at CJD we want to train efficient, qualified and happy people, capable of realising individual dreams and taking part in collective projects.
Currently, Colégio Júlio Dinis is an integral part of the Dukes Education group, as we share the same values and believe that a school is made up of people, by people with different dreams, but with common goals – the happiness of our students and their families!
2008
Colégio Júlio Dinis embarked on a new phase of strategic development, which focused on modernising its pedagogical approach and expanding its ambitions. This year marked the beginning of a renewed vision, geared towards educational innovation, investment in new technologies and preparing students for a world in constant transformation.
2016
One of the most significant moments in the recent history of Colégio Júlio Dinis was the expansion of its facilities to Rua de Silva Tapa. This move represented a milestone for the school, allowing significant expansion of the infrastructure and resources available to the school community. In addition to the positive impact on academic life, this expansion has allowed for growth in the capacity to welcome more students, while still maintaining the commitment to quality and personalised teaching. The strategic location on Rua de Silva Tapa allowed the school to be even more integrated into the local community, promoting a cultural and social exchange with its surroundings.
The extension of the facilities was more than just a physical expansion – it was a decisive step towards consolidating Colégio Júlio Dinis as a benchmark in teaching excellence, offering students and their families an even more welcoming, modern and dynamic environment.
2023
The union of these two moments – the move to the new premises in Rua do Porto Feliz and the integration into Dukes Education – represents a new era for Colégio Júlio Dinis. These advances not only reaffirm our commitment to high quality education, but also position the school as a benchmark in the educational sector, both nationally and internationally.
