CJD stands out in the city of Porto for the quality and size of its facilities. In fact, the school campus is made up of several separate buildings, designed for different levels of education as well as for the services offered. In addition to these, the numerous streets, pathways and imposing green spaces make our school a true educational city.
Labs
The laboratory is where science happens. This is where students test hypotheses, formulate theories and experiment with chemistry, physics, biology and geology.
The school’s laboratories are equipped and prepared to meet all the pedagogical challenges set by the curricula of the various experimental subjects, so that theory and practice are constantly and dynamically combined and consolidated, applying the scientific method on a daily basis.
With a language that seeks to promote structure and rigour in the communication of science, this space also develops a very specific way of working, stimulating the skills of organisation, discussion, responsibility, creativity, dexterity, autonomy and collaboration that all scientific projects require.
STEM room
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) approach provides the school with a dynamic range of content designed to respond to the competitive world in which we live. The aim is to encourage and create opportunities for our students to innovate and shape the future. All this in a collaborative, dynamic environment equipped with the latest computer technology.
It is through the interdisciplinarity of these different areas that we seek solutions, solve problems, create other problems and nurture the critical spirit of young people eager for challenge and achievement.
Playgrounds
Green spaces, fresh air, contact with different elements of nature, trampolines, swings, slides, rope bridges, sandpits! Our school includes all of these components with the aim of providing moments of fun while also being an excellent space for social interaction, physical-motor development and also as a classroom for different types of learning. Based on the principle that time spent in the playground is essential free time for children’s well-being, the aim is for these play periods to encourage sharing, communication, making choices, cooperation and decision-making. Thus, in the playground, our students learn to interact with others and develop themselves up as social beings – while having fun and playing at the same time.
Sport spaces
Sport and being active are essential for the well-being and health of our students. We therefore offer a number of indoor and outdoor multi-sports facilities, which not only allow for teaching, but also for practicing sports in your free time.
