Admission Critéria

Applicants profile

At CJD International, we actively seek applicants from a wide array of backgrounds, aiming to cultivate a vibrant and diverse community. We are steadfast in our commitment to providing equal treatment to all applicants, irrespective of their sex, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or social background. At CJD International, every individual is valued and respected, ensuring that our admissions process is fair and inclusive for all.

Special Educational Needs

CJD International School does not discriminate in any way with regards to admissions. We warmly welcome students with diagnosed or suspected special educational needs, provided that our staff and facilities can adequately accommodate them.

We strongly encourage parents of children with special educational needs or physical and mental disabilities to openly discuss their child’s requirements during the admission process. Parents are encouraged to provide a copy of an educational psychologist’s report or a medical report, if available.

As part of this process, the applicant may be interviewed by the school psychologist, and the school reserves the right to request a psycho-educational evaluation before making a decision if deemed necessary.

The school is committed to thoroughly discussing with parents and their medical advisors the accommodations that can reasonably be made for the child if they become a student at our school.

Fluency in English

At CJD International School, we assess students’ English proficiency based on their expected time at the school. If we believe students can sufficiently develop their academic English proficiency to transition into the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum during their time with us, we accept them, even if they are not initially proficient. Generally, Primary 3 is the last year we admit students with limited English proficiency. Parents can choose to arrange English as an additional language tuition at their own expense.

Grade Placement

At CJD International School, we conduct assessments in line with our admissions policy to ensure that each student enrolled has access to educational opportunities tailored to their needs. Typically, students are placed based on their previous academic journey (with the needed equivalences) and age as of September 1st of the academic year they enter. However, in cases where it benefits the student, they may be placed in a lower grade than originally requested.

Placement in a higher grade than their age group is only considered under exceptional circumstances, particularly if their previous school transcripts show that they have already completed the suited year for their age.

If a student is placed in a grade above their age group, parents are informed that this placement is tentative, and the school may recommend a change of grade after thoroughly observing the student’s abilities.

If you are not sure about the student’s placement, please use our Date of Birth Selector as a preliminary guide.

Student Admissions Process and Procedure:

Our selection process is designed to identify students who can benefit from our comprehensive and well-rounded education and contribute positively to the school community. CJD International School operates on a rolling basis, meaning that we accept and welcome new students and offer enrolment throughout the school year (until the end of the first term, for the students need to have a complete term assessed in the school), contingent upon availability and meeting admission requirements.

In the event that a particular grade level reaches full capacity, our school maintains a waiting list, and applicants will be notified when places become available. Therefore, it is advisable for families to initiate the formal admissions process at their earliest convenience to minimise the risk of disappointment.

The admissions process at CJD International School is open to children from Primary 1 to Year 13.
